You’ve seen their work in magazines, you’ve followed them on Facebook, maybe you even subscribe to their blogs.  Now, it’s time to get to know the designers of the 2012 Southern Living Idea House in person!

Come meet and interact with the Idea House Team at the first Designer & Sponsor Day.   Representatives from  the interior design firm Tracery Interiors, the architecture firm Historical Concepts, and the landscape architects at Get More Curb Appeal will be at the house on Saturday, October 6th, from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, along with sponsors such as Ikea, Phantom Screen and Shaw Floors.

Here’s your chance to pick their brains and find out how they turned this….

And, after you’ve soaked in enough inspiration, head up the block to Historic Downtown Senoia  for lunch.  Then, shop the annual Sidewalk Sale (1o am – 5 pm), where you just might find a treasure for your own home.

Plan your trip here, and we hope to see you on October 6th.

It took nearly a year for Southern Living magazine and the Idea House Team to transform a tired 1830s farmhouse into Southern Living’s 2012 Idea House, but the entire process was captured on video.  This 30 second spot shows makes it look easy:

Did you know that your visit to the Southern Living Idea House will benefit musician Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground?

Watch the video below to hear from Zac himself, as he takes you on a  tour of the property and shares his vision “to operate a camp to allow children to overcome academic, social and emotional difficulties so they may reach their full potential by providing them with the opportunity and tools necessary to achieve excellence in all facets of their lives.”   Then, come tour the Southern Living Idea House starting on June 2nd and a portion of your entry fee will support Zac’s mission.

Marvin Windows & Doors,  a sponsor of the 2012 Southern Living Idea House, is capturing the restoration of the 19th-century farmhouse on video.   Here’s the first episode in the series, which follows the Idea House architects, builder and interior designers  as they transform the old structure into a 21st century showhouse.

The Abercorn Place floorplans are now available for viewing (and purchase) on Southern Living’s home plan website, but here’s a look:

5 Days (Yikes!) Until the Grand Opening

This story ran on MyFoxAtlanta back in January, but is worth another look.  It really conveyed the small town, urban “vibe”  shaping up in Senoia.  Here’s the  “backstory” behind the town’s new-found vibrancy:

16 Days Until the Grand Opening

For the first time in the history of the Southern Living Idea House program, the magazine is featuring an attached, townhouse-style residence.  The Senoia Idea House, dubbed Abercorn Place,  is the end unit of a row of brownstones.   While construction continues INSIDE the other units, the construction crews are scrambling to have the exteriors complete for the Grand Opening  so that visitors can experience a taste of what The Gin Property will become.  It’s amazing to see the how the recently-installed iron work, cast “stone” steps and street trees frame the brick sidewalk.  Can’t wait to take a stroll when the street’s complete!
